Happy New Year.
We mark each year by the traditional zodiac, and this year is Hinoe-Uma (丙午) in Japan.
Hinoe-Uma is formed by the convergence of Hinoe, one of the Ten Heavenly Stems, and Uma, one of the Twelve Earthly Branches. In Eastern philosophy, it is regarded as a year in which strong yang energies overlap—an exceptionally dynamic and powerful year.
Hinoe is likened to the blazing sun, symbolizing brightness, passion, visible strength, and the driving force that propels matters decisively forward. Uma, on the other hand, represents vitality, expansion, social connectedness, and speed—an energy that encourages the lively exchange of people and ideas, allowing no room for stagnation.
When these two forces unite, the year of Hinoe-Uma is interpreted as a time when latent energies surge outward, urging individuals, organizations, and even entire eras toward significant transformation. It may well be a year in which long-cherished visions finally come into motion—a powerful wind that breaks through inertia and carries us into the next chapter.
From Japan and us, we will continue to advocate for global collaboration and lasting peace worldwide. I sincerely appreciate your continued guidance and support in the year ahead.
May this year be one in which I am privileged to spend my days wishing, from the bottom of my heart, for the happiness and well-being of each and every one of you.
