Today, I want to study Business English with you.
今日は、皆さんとビジネス英語を学習したいと思います。

Although there are many English Speakers in Japan, some of them don't know how to speak English as Business way.
日本には、英語を喋れる方が数多くいますが、ビジネス英語を喋れる人は少ないと思います。

Actually I am one of them, so I must improve my English ability at mush higher level than now for using English in business society.
実は私もその中の1人で、ビジネスの世界で英語を生かすには、更なる英語の精進が必要です。

Well, so much for preliminaries. OK! Let's start!!
前置きはこれぐらいにしてレッスンを始めましょう!!

Lesson 1

Idiom (熟語、慣用句、成句)

There are many idioms talking about time as if it were money.
英語の表現技法として,[金]の代わりに「時間」をつかった多くのイディオムがあります。

Examples (例)

1. You can spend time. (時間を費やす)
I spent 3 hours doing that.
 

2. You can waste time.(時間を浪費する)
I wasted an hour waiting for her.
 

3. Time can be a waste. (時間の無駄)
It's not worth going. The whole exhibition is a waste of time.

4. You can value time. (時間を重んじる)
I value every minute I get to spend with my baby.

5. You can run out of time. (時間を使い切る)
I didn't get the project finished as I would have liked. I ran out of time.

6. You can spare time. (時間を割く)
Can you spare me a few minutes?

7. Time can be precious. (貴重になる)
I travel a lot so the time I spend at home is very precious to me.

8. You can afford time. (時間的余裕がある)
We can't afford to spend any more time on this. We have a lot to cover today.

9. You can save time. (時間を節約する)
I've already dug out the old files to save time today.

10. You can be short of time. (時間が無い)
We're short of the time we need to do a good job on this.

11. You can have plenty of time. (数多の時間がある)
We have plenty of time to worry about this later.
