Hey guys!

So this is my first post here on Ameba.
I'm currently on high school exchange in Japan. I grew up in Switzerland but am actually half-German, half-American.

Today I went to Kourankei with my host family. That's a place famous for its beautiful fall colors. There was lots of street food and even a trained monkey performing.
I got to eat many things I had never heard of before. Grass flavored mochi, a fried pastry filled with sweet patato and Konnyaku, which is a traditional jelly-like health-food made from a root with the same name (Feel free to google it for more info). There was so much food I wanted to try, that I really was full by the end.
I love Adzuki beans & the Anko paste made from it.  There are lots of foods with it, one of my favorites is Mochi. It you've ever eaten Mochi, tell me about your experience in the comments.
There also were some old Japan style buildings exhibiting things like paper making, dyeing, how people used to live and a blacksmith's shop.
