Progressive Metal • Norway
Conception is a power/progressive metal band from raufoss, norway, originally active from 1989 to 1998, during which they released four studio albums.

The band reunited in 2018, twenty years after originally disbanding with a new single and ep.
Conception are a highly proficient unit and progressive/power metal band from norway. Without sounding too salivating:- also one of my all time favourite bands. This album is the first masterpiece of three very majestic offerings of the back of they're slightly more inexperienced and amateur debut. Sadly disbanded for good in 1998, this legacy is one they leave behind them and it stands the test of time very well indeed. Driving this exceptional standard, is the universally well known roy khan (vocals) and tore ostby (guitar); and the relatively lesser known ingar amlien (bass), arve heimdal (drums), and hans chr, gjestvang on the keyboards.
The band was formed in norway in 1989 by guitarist tore østby, singer dag østby, drummer werner skogli and bassist freddy samsonstuen. In 1990, after a demo tape, arve heimdal replaced werner skogli and ingar amlien replaced freddy samsonstuen. A year later, dag østby quits, and the band is forced to search for a new vocalist. After many auditions, the band hooks up with roy sætre khantatat (roy khan), a classically trained opera singer. Their somewhat short-lived career (the band disbanded in 1997-8) was characterized by a unique and distinct sound on the power/progressive metal ge… read more.
Perhaps best remembered for its musicians' later exploits with various bands, norwegian power metal act conception issued four very competent but not all that successful albums during its 1990s run. After starting out with 1991's norway-only independently released the last sunset, vocalist roy s. Khan, guitarist tore østby, bassist ingar amlien, and drummer arve heimdal added keyboard player hans christian gjestvang for their sophomore effort of two years later, parallel minds. This was released (along with their reissued debut) by noise records and, surprisingly, climbed to number 23 on the japanese charts, where melodic, progressive rock-tinged heavy metal happened to be in vogue during the '90s. Album number three, entitled in your multitude, followed in 1995 but the band was starting to feel the stress of both the media and public's love/hate response (love in japan and select european nations, hate pretty much everywhere else), and decided to break up shortly after issuing a final bow called flow (featuring keyboard player trond nagell-dahl) in 1997. Not quite ready to retire, though, khan quickly hooked up with american progressive metal powerhouse kamelot, østby went on to attain true guitar hero status with ark, and the rhythm section changed direction via black metal band crest of darkness. ~ eduardo rivadavia.
Essential for any fan of melodic metal - 90%
Although the decline of glam metal came with the arrival of alternative rock and grunge in the ‘90s, few bands associated with hard rock and glam metal in the ‘80s continued their success stories into the early ‘90s. A number of hard rock bands reinvented themselves, bringing new sounds to the public's attention, while staying true to the roots of metal.

While many hard rock bands adopted a heavier sound, influenced by the grunge scene of the ‘90s, certain bands continued writing melodic albums. Few hard rock bands had considerable success with rock ballads early in the decade. A new wave of hard rock bands came to the forefront of the public's attention, wowing fans with a blend of traditional metal elements combined with non-mainstream influences.
Kamelot have long been among the most prestigious and innovative acts in the history of the rock and metal genre. Their blend of melodic metal, progressive influences and doom/gothic metal references has ensured that albums such as the fourth legacy (1999), karma (2001) and the black halo (2005) turned into absolute masterpieces. Their 2015 release haven not only established a new generation of fans for the band, but also took the group to more countries and cities than ever. Thanks to lots of sold-out shows, most successful tour of their career to date.

THE BRAND NEW ALBUM ‘STATE OF DECEPTION’ – OUT NOW!
Review by lukretio
"state of deception" is the first full-length release in 23 years by cult progressive metal band conception, the brainchild of vocal powerhouse roy kahn (kamelot) and guitar extraordinaire tore stby (ark). Full disclosure first: this is the only conception album i have ever listened to, so i cannot make any comparisons with their previous releases, which prevents me from being able to judge the standing of this album within the larger conception's discography. However, the flip side of my unpreparedness is that i came to this album without any expectations as to how a conception album "ought to sound", which ? i gather from other reviews i read online ? might have been a source of disappointment for some of the long-term fans of the band.

In fact, i approached the album only because i am a huge fan of khan's vocals and because i consider stby one of the most talented guitar players in progressive metal (not necessarily in terms of technique, but in terms of compositional ability and creativity).
Reactivated norwegian progressive metallers conception, who feature in their ranks former kamelot singer roy khan, will release their new album, “state of deception”, on april 3. The band’s first full-length offering in over two decades follows on from 2018’s successful ep “my dark symphony”, and will once again be released via conception‘s own conception sound factory label. A full european tour will take place later in the year.
Embedded from www. Youtube. Com. Danko jones – the man and band, have been around for years, but really hasn’t gotten the exposure in the united states they deserve, in spite of being a very successful international band. Their brand of rock is old school in that it is simple, full of attitude, and is thematically tied to rock n roll’s primal roots. As a frontman, seeing danko perform live is something to behold. His brazen character draws you in to a palpable and furious energy. The band just released their seventh album fire music in 2015. I also recommend danko’s insightful interview podcast the official danko jones podcast.
definition - conception band
The 2016 return of new conception of jazz. 20 years anniversary to be celebrated. 2016/17 brings brand new line up. 4 amazing, young talents from oslo.

The band will perform both new and old material featuring “hits” like “you might say”, “existence” and “change”. After a 10 years break bugge wesseltoft restarts his iconic new conception of jazz in connection with the bands and record labels jazzland 20 year anniversary. The original formation hitting of back in 1996 really created a new and fresh boost for european jazz music together with artists like erik truffaz and nils petter molvaer. Key element and concept of the group were the blend of electronic clubmusic and live jazz. New conception of jazz became the definition and leading figure of electronic jazz.

no wonder they were frantic , this was a band with a personality crisis. Inspired by beatlemania, the frantics , as they were initially known, sprang out of the non-existent billings, mt music scene. Numerous lineup shifts and a move to new mexico ensued, before the band, then calling themselves frantic , settled briefly in oklahoma city in 1966. There they linked up with the rascals and hit the road, eventually landing in nyc. When it all went south, the group returned to new mexico before california beckoned. There, frantic finally landed a deal with lizard records, resulting in their debut conception album. Unfortunately, all those years touring hadn't helped the group develop their own sound, which remained beholden to their many idols, nor had it
