2011-12 NBA Win Over/Under Predictions.

When Mike Brown got fired on Friday, everyone naturally assumed that Phil Jackson would be the one to replace him. It wasn’t because of anything anyone reported. It wasn’t because of the rumors circulating around Los Angeles about Jackson skipping a business presentation to meet with the Buss family. More than any of those things, really, it was just because nobody could believe that a franchise as well-run and stable as the Los Angeles Lakers would dump its coach (five games into the season) without having a backup plan.

It is every general manager's dream to field a team flush with "blue-chip" talent, hoping for that magic combination of great chemistry and star players that leads to championship rings. And the NBA is full of amazing combinations of players who put up big numbers for their teams night after night.

Webster's defines dynamic as "marked by usually continuous and productive activity." No duo exemplifies this definition better than the Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. Both are amazingly productive and competitive scorers.

The window has supposedly been closing for the last five seasons for the Spurs. And all they've done is reinvent themselves as the zombie team that will never die. They were once an inside team built around Tim Duncan. cheap nike air max shoes They've evolved, adapted and adjusted. Now, they spread the floor as beautifully as any team in the league, utilizing all five players on the court and making everyone a weapon. Also-ran players like Danny Green, Boris Diaw and Matt Bonner become lethal, because Gregg Popovich places them strategically in a system and roles where they can succeed. It's incredible, really.

At some point, the Spurs will have to come down. It will Nike Air Max TN happen. One day. Many felt it was going to be last season because of the lockout-condensed schedule and San Antonio's advanced age. Instead, the Spurs won 20 consecutive games and went nearly 60 days without a loss. Save for the Oklahoma City Thunder finding another level, the Spurs might've been cruising toward yet another title.

The league will announce Wednesday a change to its All-Star ballot that will, for the first time, allow fans to vote for three undefined "frontcourt" players instead of having to vote for two power forwards and a center. With more and more teams playing smaller than in the past, the definition of "center" was becoming increasingly difficult -- not to mention finding enough quality big men for whom to vote.

For years, for example, the Spurs have listed Tim Duncan as a power forward, even though everyone on earth knew he was their starting center. And so when it came to All-Star balloting, Duncan would take up a forward spot in a very crowded field of Western Conference stars instead of his logical spot in the middle. This was good for Duncan, who surely would have made his 13 All-Star teams anyway, but it often cost another forward a shot.

The league decided to make the change after the NBA's Competition Committee agreed to the move at its meeting last month, VP of Basketball Operations Stu Jackson said Tuesday evening.
The Los Angeles Clippers can no longer be taken lightly. They’ve officially arrived as contenders, being acknowledged by the top teams in the league as such. The key to their rise to prominence has been some major roster changes, including the drafting of All-Star power forward Blake Griffin and the trade for Chris Paul, arguably the best point guards in the league. As we’ve come to cheap nike air max shoes learn, though, depth is just as important as star power and Clippers’ management added several proven role players this offseason, including Matt Barnes, who originally got his career started with the team back in 2003-04 when they finished 28-54.

“The locker room is nicer,” Barnes joked with HOOPSWORLD. “We have a practice facility now. The team is in a different direction. The organization has done a great job bringing quality players in and making Nike Air Max TN this a destination for free agents.”

Barnes’ journey back to the Clippers is unique because before signing with them, he had questions about whether or not he was going to be picked up after an overblown, yet somewhat tumultuous, offseason. Then, a random pickup game changed everything.

There are those in the NBA who will tell you that the Oklahoma City Thunder's greatest fear in the West is not the Los Angeles Lakers, but their gym-mates down the hall, the Los Angeles Clippers.

While I'm not ready to pick the Clippers again to win the West (as I did last season), I understand why they would fear the Clippers. After all, the Clippers took three of four games from the Thunder last season.

For example, compare their point guards: Russell Westbrook was a disaster against the Clippers, averaging 19.5 points and just 4.5 assists on woeful 37 percent shooting while Chris Paul was magnificent, averaging 20.5 points and 9.5 assists while hitting 52 percent of his shots.

Nick Young came off the bench to score 14 and Jrue Holiday netted nine points with six assists.
