The speculation surrounding China Mobile and Apple stems from the announcement of the first-half financial results from the carrier on August 15. During this announcement it is reported that China Mobile's Chairman Xi Guohua stated, with reference to recent talks between China Mobile and Apple, that "Both sides sounded keen." Previously China Mobile and Apple have struggled to reach agreements due to a technical issue regarding the type of networks used in China and their compatibility with the iPhone, but it is believed that China Mobile could be among the country's networks to receive iPhone-compatible 4G licenses by the end of this year.
