You may be wondering what Marcel has to do with squids and neuroscientists. I bought this book partially because I used a new metric (not original to me, Marshall McLuhan first thought of it): I read page 69. I finished reading, “How We Decide” on the flight home and in reading the last few pages noticed that Jonah Lehrer's first book was entitled, “Proust Was a Neuroscientist”. As far as I know, Proust never had an encounter with a squid while on the coast at Cabourg, and probably not in Paris either.
