This is a shelf that I have hanging in my home.
It's very simple, but it's one of my greatest treasures in my house.
This is a shelf that my grandfather made when he was in high school, in shop class (技術）.
This shelf hung in my parents' house for all of my childhood. My mother used it in the kitchen for her spice rack. My parents are decluttering （だんしゃり） recently, and they asked me if there was anything that I wanted from our house.
Right away, I thought of this shelf that my grandfather made. I guess it must be over 90 years old now? Every time I look at it, it reminds me (思い出させる）of my grandfather.
It also reminds me of my grandmother. Do you see that feather (羽)?
That is a very special feather. It's one of my great treasures (宝物). That feather has a strong connection to my grandmother. I will tell that story another time.
I don't have a photo of my grandfather when he was in high school, but here is one of my grandmother when she was in high school.
And here she is when she was a little older, with my mother behind her.
I have one more treasure from my grandmother. I'll tell you about it another day.
