AZ31B
magnesium alloy can be divided into two kinds according to manufacturing
process-- wrought magnesium alloy and cast magnesium alloy, with good
mechanical property, is mainly used on parts of car, parts cover and
communication equipment. Comparing with cast magnesium alloy, AZ31B wrought
magnesium alloy has higher intensity, better plasticity, are made of sheet,
extruded profiles and forging, etc.
Adding
AL, ZN element into purity magnesium can improve mechanical property and
processing property of alloy, strength of extension of alloy will increase with
rising AL (or ZN) content in a specific range, ZN AL content is about 3% will
achieve the highest elongation of alloy, while AL、 ZN
content is more than 3%(gravity), cast structure separate out β phase easily,
making reduction of processing property of alloy, strength of extension of
AZ31B magnesium is 245-274.4MPa, strength property is relatively low in
practical magnesium alloy, and can’t improve strength through heat treatment.
But its forgeability can be preferably used.
Cast
magnesium alloy AZ31B, has good anti-vibration ability and heat absorption
capacity, so is ideal material of manufacturing wheel hub of airplane.
Magnesium alloy AZ31B is very steady in petrol、kerosene
and lubricating oil, suit for manufacturing the engine gear casing、oil
pump and pipeline. And because inertia force which is produced in spinning and
reciprocation motion is lesser, are used to manufacturing moving parts, like rocker,
cabin door and control surface, etc. Civil aircraft and military aircraft
widely use magnesium alloy products. Some parts of famous American B-52 use
magnesium alloy sheet 635kg, extruded profiles 90kg, casting more than 200kg.
Now,
AZ31B
magnesium alloy sheet are also widely used on automobile application, for
example, clutch housing、bonnet、gear
case cylinder cover、air-conditioner shell、steering
wheel、steering stents、brake
stents, etc. For improving absorbing impact and lightweight when car are hit,
magnesium alloy are used on steering wheel and seat. According to research,
fuel 60% of car using is consumed on itself weight, when weight of car cut down
10% per time, the fuel efficiency will be improved more than 5%. Weight of car
reducing 100kg per time will reduce consuming of fuel about 0.7L per a hundred
kilometers. Saving 1L fuel every time can decrease 2.5g of CO2 discharging,
less than 30% discharge amount per year. So reducing weight of car have greatly
influence for environment and energy, lightweight of car have become inevitable
tendency.
