Toshiba has outfitted

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist of the Toshiba Laptop Battery

The Satellite R945-P440's 750GB, 5,400rpm hard drive is one of the largest in the category—both the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG-6808 and Acer Aspire V5-471-6569 have smaller 500GB drives. Toshiba does pile on the preinstalled software, however. In addition to Windows 7 Home Premium, you'll find plenty of extras, from Microsoft Office 2010 Starter and Google Chrome to 30-day trials of both Norton Internet Security and Toshiba Online Backup, a service that starts at $4.95 per month for 25GB of cloud storage. Toshiba also includes a few other branded services, like Toshiba BookPlace and App Place for purchasing ebooks and apps, respectively. Toshiba covers the Satellite R945-P440 with a standard one-year warranty on parts and labor.

Toshiba has outfitted the Satellite R945-P440 with a 2.5GHz with battery like Toshiba PA3506U-1BRS Battery , Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS Battery , Toshiba PA3535U-1BAS Battery , Toshiba PA3535U-1BRS Battery , Toshiba PA3591U-1BAS Battery , Toshiba PA3591U-1BRS Battery , Toshiba PA3640U-1BAS Battery , Toshiba PA3640U-1BRS Battery , Toshiba PA3641U-1BAS Battery , Toshiba PA3641U-1BRS Battery , Toshiba PA3689U-1BAS Battery , Toshiba PA3689U-1BRS Battery Intel Core i5-3210M dual-core processor, paired with 6GB of RAM. It zipped through Cinebench R11.5, our benchmark test for processor speed, with a score of 2.87 points, beating out both the Fujitsu Lifebook LH532 (2.17) and the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG-6808 (2.76), but falling well behind the Lenovo IdeaPad Y480, which muscles far ahead with a beefy quad-core processor. The Satellite R945-P440 also offered decent multimedia performance, finishing Handbrake and Photoshop benchmark tests in 1 minute 40 seconds and 3:50, respectively.

With Intel's integrated graphics, Intel HD Graphics 4000, the Satellite R945-P440 sufficient graphics processing power for all of your day-to-day Web browsing and video, scoring 6,360 points in 3DMark 2006 at medium resolution and 3,415 points when dialed up to native resolution and 4x anti-aliasing. Gaming support may be limited to casual games, however, as the only gaming test the Satellite R945-P440 completed was Crysis, producing an unplayable 26 frames per second at medium resolution.

While the overall performance of the Satellite R945-P440 is decent, the battery life is excellent, with the laptop lasting 9 hours 7 minutes in MobileMark 2007. While this is half an hour shy of the 9:35 of the Acer Aspire TimelineX, it's hours ahead of most other competing laptops, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 (4:48), Fujitsu Lifebook LH532 (5:01), and Aspire V5-471-6569 (4:47).

Dated looks aside, the Toshiba Satellite R945-P440 is a solid mainstream laptop, and one of the few available as ultrabooks take over the laptop market. While decent performance and all-day battery life may not be enough for the Satellite R945-P440 to unseat the Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 as our Editors' Choice, it's certainly a reasonable alternative for shoppers who don't need quad-core power and want to save a bit at the register.
