No stranger to the local press, Eunice is well remembered as Miss Singapore Universe 2000 and the youngest Nominated Member of Parliament at age 27 in 2004. She was also a TV actress, talk show host and co-host of Singapore’s Wheel of Fortune. Often portrayed in the media as a beauty with brains and heart, Eunice, now 36, is every bit the charming personality we’d expected to meet. But what impresses us most is her earnest, unassuming manner in person. And then there’s that body. Our cover girl, who arrived in a tank top, skirt and fl ip-fl ops, emerges from the changing room in a vivid pink two-piece. Everyone’s eyes follow Eunice as she strides on to the set and amps up her smile for the camera. She’s never posed in a bikini, but no one can tell from the confi dence she’s oozing. To maintain her killer fi gure, Eunice exercises four to six times weekly by doing a mix of yoga, interval training, weights and Muay Thai. For this photo shoot, she cut out sugar and carbs from her diet for fi ve weeks: “It was tough. Towards the end, I went a little crazy. I was craving kaya toast so badly that I made my friend eat it in front of me just so I could smell it.” This may sound a tad too disciplined, but it is just how Eunice lives life – full of passion and zeal for whatever she puts her heart to. These days, she busies herself with two big projects: She’s producing and acting in 3.50 The Movie, a feature fi lm about sex traffi cking in Cambodia, as well as managing Womentalk (Christian Louboutin Miss Fast Plato 120 Bootie), an online portal she recently launched. The site showcases short videos of inspiring women from all walks of life and its fi rst season includes swimmer and Singapore’s fi rst-ever Paralympic gold medallist Yip Pin Xiu, and Malaysian rape survivor as well as women’s rights activist Haslinah Yacob. As Eunice hopes to create an avenue for women to share their stories with the world via this platform, viewers are encouraged to upload their own videos. Entirely self-funded, the project has taken up most of her resources. Upon probing, we also fi nd out that she hasn’t drawn a steady income for two years now. So how does she do it – and why?
