Log home industry capitalizing on demand in California, Japan
The lowly log cabin has grown up to become the refined and increasingly popular log home.Many Northern Ontario firms are supplying the growing demand from Japan to California."I think it (demand) is improving each year as more get built and more people become aware of it," said Richard Korpela, owner of Devon Mills Ltd. in Chapleau.The company's pre-cut lumber product is marketed under the brand name North Country Log Homes.
