In my lesson with English teacher (She's Filipino),
I realized the differences between the two cultures.
Today's discovery is about the Summer sales.
When I told her that many shops are now on sale in Japan,
she was surprised.
Q: Why are they on sale?
A: Because it's a bonus season.
And also, I should have mentioned that Japan has four seasons, and July is the time people tend to buy summer items.)
Q: Why employers in Japan give bonuses during the summer.
A: Because it's customary.
I think it's from the old custom, " Bon" and "Shougatsu (=New Year).
Bon, an annual Buddhist event, is from July (or August on the lunar calendar) 13th to the 16th. Old people can take a rest only this time during a year.)
