We have a new computer and I’ve installed Office 2010 about it. I was setting up a template for a client over the Easter weekend after i noticed that the flying Paste Options button inside product key of office 2010 Word 2010 never displayed and all I really could get on the Paste icon about the ribbon was ‘paste while unformatted text’. That’s not usually something useful as I often want to ‘paste as text’, but not always.

I compared my Phrase ms office 2010 settings on the new Windows 7 PC with my Word 2010 settings on my Vista laptop computer (which did possess the Paste Options hover option); the settings were Precisely the same, so something else was at play here.

Off to my buddy Google, and after a couple of fruitless hits, I found the solution… as well as it’s not what you’d be expecting! In fact, it’s so far removed from what you’d expect that I’m surprised the one who found the answer even twigged that your small setting in Program A may be affecting a small setting in Program B cheap office 2010 (Word 2010 around my case, but all the Business office 2010 products too).

And what’s the option? A Skype add-on to everyone browsers that makes an unknown number clickable to make some sort of Skype call! Who knew??

So here’s what Used to do to get my Stick Options button back:

Closed Word 2010.
Opened Skype, went to Tools > Superior > Advanced Settings and cleared the check container for Use Skype in order to call callto: links on the world wide web. (I’m not 100% sure this did anything, but I figured I would turn it off at any rate.)
Opened Firefox and went to the Add-ons Manager and also disabled the Skype Click on to Call add-in. Restarted Firefox when asked to accomplish this.
Opened Internet Explorer, clicked the settings symbol (cog in prime right of screen in IE9), selected Manage add-ons, selected Skype Click to Call and clicked Disable. I didn’t have for you to restart IE9.
Opened Word 2010 in addition to tried pasting some text from another source. It worked! I had my Stick Options button back!

Please note: You have to disable that add-on in ALL browsers on your desktop, including IE, even if you don’t make use of IE. I initially only inept it on Firefox however I still couldn’t obtain the Paste Options button to come up with. I had to disable it on IE9 at the same time. Then it worked.
