At the end of the last year, I got an advice from the Senior Adviser of our waterfall activity. "Why don't we engage in SDGs?" He said.
When I heard that, I had no idea about SDGs. So I felt lost.
First of all, I tried to googl SDGs in order to know its definition.
SDGs is the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a set of 17 "Global Goals" with 169 targets between them, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.
When I found this explanation, I could understand these words but couldn't imagine what we should do.
Among 17 "Global Goals", there are some goals that seem to be related to our activty.
For example, SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being, SDG 15 Life on Land, SDG16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, SDG17 Pertnerships for the Goals.
What we can do about them?
On the website of Japan SDGs Action Platform provided by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, we can see many good practices in Japan.
And In Hiroshima, our neighborhood, there is a famous practice known as a baker who doesn't dispose their breads "捨てないパン屋さんdeRienドリアン".
It is not only important but also essential not to dispose anything to eat. However, it is difficult to practice without determination and effort.
Since now, I am meaning to get more information about SDGs step by step and want to think what we can do.
