4th 8.6.Genbaku Kensui at the 120 places all together all at once

We, the members of waterfall activitey held the 4th event on August 6th in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

We are going to dedicate water at almost 120 cenotaphs for the atomic bomb victims located within a radius of 2.5 kilometers from ground zero in Hiroshima city.

This year marks 75 years since the two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, one on Hiroshima and the other on Nagasaki.

So, various memorial events should take place this year.

However, due to Covid-19, some were canceled and some were held on a much smaller scale and others were held in the different and new ways.

Fortunatly, because our activity didn't need close contacts, we did it almost as same as last year.

And some people gave us their hands as usual, we really appreciate that.

Furthermore, far more people passing by listened to our invitation and participated in prayer and offering water than last year.

Among them, there were some junior high school students and a group of tourists from ovearseas.

The number of participants' signatures reached about 60.

Many of them were people who we met for the first time there.

We thank everyone for their prayers, supports and labour of love.

I study English on VOA learning English website every day.

I have been working on the level 2 of the beggining level.

It offers a learning strategy for every lesson.

I've already learned 10 learning strategies and I found several strategies that I had learned in Eigo forum.

For example, "make associations" is "Word association quiz" itself.

What VOA learning English says as follows.

When learning a second language, it is best to connect new words or sentence patterns directly with ideas or experiences, not with words in our first language. The associations may help us remember new words better.

The another example, "make inferences" is the way that I often use when I try to listening quiz offered by Okinosan.

"Make inferences" means making a guess based on what we know.

When I can hear some sounds of a word and can't hear the rest of the sounds of a word, I try to remember several words consisting of sounds that I can listen to.

I look over these words and check whether there is a correct word or not.

I choose a word to fit the sentence.

Sometimes I pull off, and sometimes I fail.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying it!

Use sounds

It means we can use our "mental tape recorder" to listen carefully and notice new sounds.

For example, when we are learning English there may be some new sounds that we do not have in our native language.
