Just had to share my afternoon tea experience in Singapore！！！
本日は、シンガポールでアフタヌーンティーをしてきたのでそのお話を。
あ、なんかブログが久しぶりだからか、いつもどんな感じで書き始めたとか、どんな口調だったか、忘れてしまってます。
大阪弁丸出しだったような気もするし（その方が筆が走る笑）、もう少しすまして書いてた気もするし、、、
よくわからん！
しばらくは迷走文章になると思いますが、お許しください。
本当は、「ATLAS」でアフタヌーンティーをしようと考えていました。
世界のバー５０にも選ばれている、本当に素晴らしいバーです。
こちらのHPを見ていただいたらわかると思うのですが、
この豪奢な歴史と重厚感を感じるバーで
アフタヌーンティーをしたかったんです。
そう、イキリたかったのです。
予約はHPからのみで、
旅行の３ヶ月前に見たときはまだ余裕があったんです。
そのときなぜか
「旅程を一通り決めてから予約しよう」
と思い、
そのまま忘れてたーーーーーーー。
すっとこどっこいのオタンコナスビやで、ほんま。
一ヶ月前に急に「はっ」と思い出し、
予約のページを見てみるも、もう予約は埋まっていました、、、、。
でも、せっかくだからアフタヌーンティーをしたい。
そこで、ふと
「セントーサ島」でアフタヌーンティーはできないのかな？と思ったのです。
シンガポールには今までに２回きています。
今回で３回め。
最初は今回もセントーサ島に行くつもりはなく、、
なんとなく、セントーサ島って家族連れが、プールやUSJや水族館で
わーーーーーっ
てアクティビティーを楽しむところっていうイメージで。
できれば、人の少ないところで、静かに過ごしたいアラフィフは
敬遠してたのですよ。
（私もとうとうアラフィフに突入したーーーー）
でも、アフタヌーンティーならできるところあるんじゃないかしら？？？
と調べたところ
アコーホテル系列の「ソフィテル」の「le bar」でヌン活ができることが判明。
アフタヌーンティーの予約はこちらのHPからいれました。
こちらのホテル、
セントーサ島にあるからか、シンガポールには珍しい
リゾート感のあふれるホテルでした。
で、、、よくよく考えると、イギリス系のホテルではなく
フランス系のホテルでアフタヌーンティーをするって。。。。
って思いましたが、
ま、リゾート感と、ゆったり感が味わえたので良かったと思います。
イギリス感まったくなし。
他のところで、イギリス感やプラナカン文化を感じたからいいとしよう。
まず、開放感のあるバーだったので自然の風が心地よく
（シンガポールの屋内はどこも冷房がキツイ）
アイスティーやアイスコーヒーもごくごく飲めるくらいでした。
（アフタヌーンティーでアイスは邪道じゃね？というところはおいておいて）
スタッフのみなさんも愛想が良く、気配りも完璧で
おかわりや（フリーフローでした）、
相方とのツーショット写真をすすんでと撮ってくださり、
大変気持ちの良い時間を過ごせました。
フランス系のお菓子っぽい華やかな盛り付け。
お茶はTWG
コーヒーはエスプレッソでした。
日本人は全くおらず
異国の雰囲気を味わえるのがものすごく楽しかったです。
久しぶりに英語を日常で使えるのもめちゃくちゃ楽しくて嬉しい。
（ただ、、、シングリッシュになかなか耳がなれず、、、苦労はしました、、、）
やっぱり、海外旅行楽しいなー
私の生徒たちも、
この夏にイギリスに行くとか、
フィリピンに行くとか、
オーストラリアに行くとか
そんな話をぞくぞくと報告してくれるので
私も負けておられん！
と引き続き海外に行きたい病が発生しております（笑）
英語を忘れないように

Originally, I had planned to have afternoon tea at “ATLAS.” It’s a truly magnificent bar that’s been selected as one of the World’s 50 Best Bars.
If you check out their website, you’ll understand why I wanted to experience afternoon tea in this luxurious bar with its rich history and elegant atmosphere.
Let’s be honest - I wanted to feel fancy!
Reservations are available through their website, and when I checked three months before our trip, there were still plenty of slots available.
For some reason, I thought, “I’ll finalize our itinerary first, then make the reservation”…
…and then I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT IT.
Goooosh!! I’m such an idiot!!!
A month before our trip, I suddenly remembered and checked the reservation page, but by then all the slots were booked… sigh.
Still, I really wanted to have afternoon tea somewhere during our trip.
Then I had a thought - “Could we have afternoon tea on Sentosa Island?”
This is my third time visiting Singapore.
I wasn’t planning to go to Sentosa Island this time…
I’ve always had this image of Sentosa as a place where families with kids go wild at pools, Universal Studios, and aquariums with those heart-popping excitement .
I preferred quiet places with fewer people and I was avoiding it.
But I wondered - maybe there’s a place for afternoon tea there?
After some research, I discovered we could have afternoon tea at “Le Bar” in “Sofitel,” which is part of the Accor hotel group.
I made the afternoon tea reservation through their website.
This hotel, perhaps because it’s on Sentosa Island, has a resort vibe that’s rare in Singapore.
Then it occurred to me… I’m having afternoon tea at a French hotel rather than a British one… 
But I think it worked out well because I got to enjoy that resort feel and relaxed atmosphere.
First of all, the bar had this wonderful open-air feeling with natural breezes 
.
I could happily drink iced tea and iced coffee (putting aside whether iced drinks are considered proper for afternoon tea
).
The staff were incredibly friendly with perfect attentiveness. They offered refills (it was free-flow) and volunteered to take photos of me and my partner, making it a thoroughly pleasant experience.
The presentation was elegant with vibrant French-style pastries.
The tea was TWG, and coffee was espresso.
There were no other Japanese guests at all, which made the foreign atmosphere even more enjoyable.
It was so much fun to use English in daily conversation again after so long.
(Though I struggled a bit to get used to Singlish…)
Overseas travel is just so wonderful! ✨✨
My students have been excitedly telling me about their summer travel plans - some going to England, others to the Philippines or Australia.
I can’t wait to go abroad next time!!
