Some ball players are more talented than others, and some are just better at taking effective training and learning how to hit a baseball better. It never does you any good to practice the wrong things, so you need to know what to practice first.
You pretty much only know what you are taught or what you watch someone else doing and learn from that. It will be much easier when you have the right mindset, along with physical abilities. Being a skilled batter is not something that anyone was born being. If you're not a good batter, then believe that you can be and then work on it. The reason some people are great athletes, is because they want to be, and they outwork everybody to get to where they want to be.

In order to hit the ball as hard as you can, the way you stand as you are hitting, is very important. Your swing mechanics will be thrown off, if your stance is too narrow or too wide. Since you won't do as well as you want, and that might make you upset. You have a perfect width and you should find it through practice.
When you are in the batter's box waiting for the pitch, try narrowing your stance a bit. Then take a step into the ideal stance width as the ball is released. When you do this, movement and then momentum is created. The potential energy you have gathered up with the slight movement, gives you full power as you swing through the ball.
When you look at batting stances of younger players you wonder where they learned them because they are so bad. When you take your stance, the width of your shoulders should be a little less than the width of your feet. When you are hitting, you need to maintain a sense of balance. For most people, they never need to learn more than the basics, when it comes to the swing. It is hard to swing, when your feet are too close together, so try to spread them out some. With all the motion that takes place in the swing, you need to be in balance and work from a strong position.
In order to be better, you need to be using better equipment. If you want to be the best hitter you can be, you will need to be using the right bat. Even if you have the right bat, to be a good hitter, you need the skill to use it. When discussing these two points, they are entirely different subjects. You need to be using a bat that feels just right when you are batting, in order to hit effectively. You could also say that it has to be one you can handle with control and authority. A heavier bat will give you more power, but you will have less speed and control. You might gain power with a heavier bat, but have less ability because you can't handle it.
If you can develop the right mindset, so can become a great player, rather than just a good one. It takes patience so you need to have that and you have to be stubborn. When things become frustrating and you get down on yourself, it will take something inside, to keep going. If your goal is to play good baseball, then you can't give up.
