How much do you know the present condition of divorce?
Recently the divorce rate is endlessly rising. I fear this situation. That’s why I researched the situation about divorce in the world.
The United Nations issued a report stating that the world divorce rate is rising sharply. The United States still has the highest rate. Furthermore, the divorce rate is also rising in the countries of Asia, which are close to the United States rate. Especially Korea takes up the position of 3rd highest rate. In the 1950s, 90 % of people stayed married for 10 years. On the other hand, in the 1990s, the rate of the people stayed married 10 years was only under 50%. In addition people 60 years and older who divorced, which called a late divorce, is increasing too. (The United Nations, March, 2010) Specialist who in the United States said the primary factors of this issue are 3 reasons. One of the reason human’s life span has been extended. Another reason is a sense of value has been changed. The third reason is divorce system has been matured. According this survey the remarkable point is Korea’s divorce rate sudden increase. It has been rise 0.5% speed which number of divorce rate is 4 times as much as for the past 10 years. Approximately 30 hundred and 6 thousand couples married in 2002. However, approximately 14 hundred and 5 thousand couples were divorced. At present Korea’s divorce rate is situated highly position. In middle of autumn and new year or end of the summer vacation many couple is divorced which is a trend in Korea. This is a reflected wife could not communicate with parents in-law behind in happy family circle. (Korea statistics office data) On another situation the India’s divorce rate has been increased too such as double amount past 10 years. Germany’s divorce rate is not decreased. Accordingly there are published journal and television program that targeted person who consider divorce. In case of Brazil, the divorce rate has been increased as double as 1985’s. It is common situation that women broached the subject of divorce also they want to get married with person who already married. Chinese also in the same situation belong other countries that the divorce rate is rapidly increasing. In 1980’s divorce couple number was only 341 thousand couples, however in 2000’s number was 1 million 210 thousand couples, further in 2005’s number was 1 million 613 thousand couples. The state is very serious. One of the specialists said primary factor are society has been changed and government simplify the system about marriage and divorce process. (Shanghai society science laboratory) Another specialist‘s opinion is women’s social standing position has been placed high. It makes their economic power growth. They do not need endurance now. In Japan, one couple is divorced every 2 minutes. I think this is a one of the world issue that the divorce rate is rise sharply. We must put an end to that vicious cycle. It seem like family tie is shallow now. Is it good for our future? The answer is of course No. I think first we need to grasp the situation that divorce rate is non-stop rising in the world.
