Movie Essay

The name of this movie is The Lion King. It is a Disney animated

cartoon, which came out in1994. It takes place in the animal society of

Africa. The voice actor of main character, Simba, is Jonathan Taylor Thomas

and Simba’s father, is James Earl Jones. James is a well known for providing

the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars.

The Lion King is a wild animal life story, it starts from a lion’s

prince, Simba’s, birth ceremony. He is expected to be a king in Pride land

where his father governs. Simba learns the animal code from his father

when he is still a little cub. The animal code is strict because it’s eat or be

eaten, it is the law of the jungle. One day Simba is involved in a power

struggle, his uncle was out to kill him. He was saved by a hairsbreadth,

because his father helped him. Sadly, his father did not survive and Simba

thought his father’s death was his fault. He was exiled from Pride land.

Then he was brought up outside of Pride land with his new friends. His

new friends aren’t lions, one is a meerkat and the other is a warthog.

Normally meerkats and warthogs are eaten by lions, but Simba didn’t do

that. Simba learned “Hakuna Matata” from them. It means "there are no

worries", he liked this phrase and followed the motto. As time passed,

he grew up and he started to worry about his home, Pride land. He set his

heart on going back and battling with his uncle.

In the end he won the battle and Simba ascended to the throne in Pride

land. After the end of the war, peace finally returned to Pride land. Simba

then becomes a father and celebrates his new cub in the birth ceremony just

like his father did. My favorite scene is the death of Simba’s father, he

protects his cub from the attack with his own body. This scene affected me

profoundly, it was very touching.

In conclusion, this movie is unforgettable for me. At first, before I

watched this movie, I thought that it was childish but it is not. Now I think

it’s quite rather for adult, because this movie, The Lion King, is rare in

killing off a main character in Disney animated cartoons. It shows us just

how important life is and one gets a feeling of the zest of life from this movie.
