Last Wednesday, September 26, 2012, Hublot celebrated the
unveiling of its new, limited edition Hublot King Power “305” Timepiece at the W
South Beach Hotel & Residences. 305 being the area code of downtown Miami
area. In a sign of just how popular Hublot has become amongst professional
athletes and the look-at-me crowd, the launch party had quite a roster of
attendees. The event featured DJ Irie, a 30-foot video wall, free-flowing Dom
Perignon champagne, and an official unveiling by top Hublot representatives
including Rick De la Croix (President, Americas) and Ricardo Guadalupe (CEO).

Hublot usually finds itself as the most popular watch in the room, so to speak,
there is no doubt that Richard Mille knows a thing or two about playing this
game! Mille’s genius was in designing ultra-light, performance ready watches
(with tourbillons!) that his Ambassadors wear during actual performance (Rafael

Branding is really what it is all about, as many
makers of fine watches envy the results of the Rolex monolith. Whether it
surprises you or not, most people consider a Rolex watch to be the best you can
get and the most expensive. How little they know. But this is because Rolex
spends the most money on advertising by far, out of all other watch companies.
Even if the people noticing Hublot watches on Second Life for the first time
aren't about to go out and buy one, the key is the brand inoculation; making
users remember the name and forming associations. Informing potential future
buyers is big money. Get them while they are a bit younger with free time, and
when the time comes to get a nice watch, they will remember the "Rolex
alternative." My feeling is that this is Hublot's main intention..
