I heard about a ghost town that I can hike to thats close to where I live. It's called Drawbridge and it's the one and only ghost town that exists in the bay area. This is the first time I've heard about a place like this so I was eager to go. The trail to Drawbridge is alongside the bay, and it was magnificent.
私が住んでる近くにゴーストタウンがあるって聞いて行ってみました。その放棄された町の名前はDrawbridge、日本語で訳せば「跳ね橋」って言うところです。跳ね橋にたどり着くには５.６kmハイクしないとダメ、けれどそのハイクがすごい壮大でした。
I didn't know this until I got there, but you have to walk on top of the railroad tracks to actually get to abandoned buildings. The tracks still have live trains every 3 or 4 hours, so it was pretty scary because I didn't know what the train schedules were. Thankfully, our timing was good and we didn't get ran over by train.
そこに行くまで知らなかったんだけど、放置された町まで行きたかったら鉄道の上をちょっとの間歩かないとダメで、その上はまだ電車が通り過ぎてるからタイミングよく行かないと引かれる危険があります。けっこう怖かったけれど無事に行けました😰
This place kind of reminded me of a scene in "Spirited Away" where Sen is heading toward the train stop.
ちょっとだけ「千と千尋の神隠し」思い出しました。あの千尋が電車に乗るシーン。
We reached to Drawbridge, but it had just rained and the ground was too muddy for us to get closer to the abandoned town.
ついたけれど、雨が降ったばっかりで地面がドロドロすぎたから街まで歩くのは危なすぎた。東矩から見た感じがこれです⬇️⬇️
We got close to one building though. These were built around 1876 and the town was built around a train station. Around the 1880's, the town would have around 1,000 visitors on the weekend. It is said that the last resident left this town in 1979, meaning only 42 years ago there was someone here. I'm always amazed learning and seeing about how people lived in the past. The building structures were completely different than our modernized square box homes. I love going on adventures like this.
跳ね橋の町はもともと１８７６年にできた電車の駅から始まったみたい。１８８０年には結構人気があって、土日は千人ぐらい人が遊びにきたって言う噂が。１９２０年ぐらいに人がちょっとずつこの町から出て行って、最後の人が１９７９年に引っ越したみたいです。それ以来誰もここにもでってきてない。私はこう言うちょっとした歴史を習うのも好きです。たった４２年前なのに人がこう言うところに住んでて、私とは別世界の人生を送ってた。
