Upon entering the NBA in 2010, Nike hand-picked the Taiwanese-American to join its roster of athletes, signing him to a three-year deal for his potential as an intercontinental ambassador for the game; Nike quickly employed his talents by touring him around Taiwan for basketball clinics and tapping his dribbling skills for this Nike Basketball Pro Drills video, which was likely recorded during the most recent off-season. Nike’s performance-driven attitude is the backbone of the company’s success and for the SB Dunk in 2011, Nike SB will continue that trend of performance-first construction. The Dunk was in fact a basketball shoe and the crossover to skate bringing along a simple addition of a fattened tongue might not have been the easiest transition but it stuck around longer than any other Nike SB model thanks to the success New Balance 574 Women in the urban fashion market. For 2011, Nike SB will introduce a new and improved construction of the Nike SB Dunk. Starting off with the bottom sole, a modified traction pattern on both the forefoot and heel should provide the added grip that skaters look for in a skate shoe. Also making its way to the SB Dunk in 2011 is the improved heel construction, which features a protruding padding that would lock down the foot in place. All of the aforementioned changes are aimed at improving the performance of the Nike SB Dunk, so look out for these new soles come 2011. via Warped.
