Aside from the textured TUF that was no doubt also inspired by burlap bags, we haven’t seen any sneakers themed after the good ol’ gunny sack. That changes with word of this new Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Ox duo from the One Star’s Japanese division, two earthy, ruggedly constructed lowtops that could become an everyday standard for you in much the same way that farmers have relied on those trusty bags for ages. Their rough uppers add quite a bit of depth to those fairly plain shades, and just a hint of color on the tongue finishes these off nicely. ’Gunny shoe’ is another name for that kind of bag but that might change, now that two pairs that literally reflect that style are now available from Converse Japan.
While their brick-and-mortar retail spot is closed at the moment, don’t expect the folks at Patta to discontinue their influence on urban lifestyle footwear and fashion. Just yesterday, Patta teased a collaboration with Converse for October 27th, and it’s just been revealed that it’s the Pro Leather, the 2012 darling for Converse heritage models. Arriving in both the High and Low build, Patta Nike Free Run 3.0 V3 takes an earthy approach by building the uppers with sturdy Cordura nylon uppers in Tan and Green. The High features a solid dark-purple sole with purple/pink detailing on the interior and Patta tongue-label, while the Low pairs the green with a purple velour lining and purple/white tongue labels. October 27th is the release date for the Patta x Converse First String Pro Leather so give them a look below.
