I've now learned 17 kanji radicals! That doesn't seem like a lot, but I keep reminding myself that it's 17 more than I knew a week ago. I also began learning my hirigana vowels today. I've learned あ (a), い (i), う (u), え (e), and お (o).
Sometimes I get discouraged, because I will see written Japanese text and think to myself, "I'll never learn this! It's too complicated!" I just try to remind myself how much I want to visit Japan, and how much I want to communicate - even a little - with someone in Japanese. That motivates me to keep going. Each day, I know more than I did the day before.
Today I also learned that ロ口 are different. I had learned the kanji 口, but had gotten it confused with the katakana ロ. To a non-native Japanese speaker, they look very similar. So now I can remember that the kanji is bigger because I remember the term "big mouth" - a big kanji that means "mouth"!

This is my study material.
No matter how overwhelming learning the language seems, I am dedicated to improving each day. I've even been practicing writing my hiragana!

My handwriting isn't great (but then it's not great in English, either).
