Hi,

To the future Manfred. As I embark on this journey. I would really want to remind myself to stick to this goals as much as possible. For someone, like myself, who constantly changes his mind on his own plans. I really want to break this cycle, for many reasons. Firstly, my own friends who has now started to doubt my own statements. Secondly, I need to show myself that I can strictly follow my own passion, my own preferences, my own ideals, my own principles. Frankly speaking, I have always fell short on my own goals. I hated it, but even though I hated it, I have never once truly worked hard for it. It seems, like after my secondary school 'o'level days for mathematics are over. I never want seem to want to go back to those days where I truly worked hard, and sacrificed so much for myself. I have no idea when but I started to feel like a shell of my former self. Although I have never changed much, but the most annoying part of it all, is the fact that, I know what is wrong. I have never wanted to truly worked hard, be it in Basketball, studies, cycling and even in the gym. The moment I get slightly uncomfortable, I back out and start to console myself that maybe I am not meant to be.

I never want to go back to that stage ever again. From now on, for all the future battles, that I will face. This is a declaration of war. I WILL NEVER BACK DOWN. After my mandatory service for the country is over, I will dedicate myself to my studies. I will clinch that first class, I will never back down from it. Putting the necessary work in to my studies, my minimum will not be in my comfort zone. Though they always state that your actions are stronger than your words. But for one to move forward, one must first convince themselves with words. Words bring actions. But the conviction behind those words must be there. I will once again play Basketball, I loved that sport, a place where my competitiveness can ever be used to its full capacity. In addition to that, my nutrition coupled with my weightlifting sessions will not change and will enhance my skills as a basketball player. I will, therefore I do, hence I succeed. This will be my parting gift to my past and me now. The rest lies with the future Manfred. Effort beats luck, that's what we ever know. Since we are never that lucky, we just have to work thrice as hard. Work ethics over talent.

Signing off,
Manfred Koh
