Sapporo Yuki Matsuri（Sapporo Snow Festival）is starting from today for a week and it’ll reach the 65th.
it’s snow and ice festival held at Odori park and the other places, so many snow sculptures that made by citizens and the Self‐Defense Forces are shown there.
Yuki Matsuri started as some local middle and hi-school students made six snow sculptures at Odori park in 1950.
The contents of this are snowball fight, display of snow sculptures, and carnival and so on, more over 50,000 people came to see them, that’s a great popularity more than expected.
After this, it has taken a firm hold on the Sapporo’s big winter event.
Now a days, from not only Hokkaido, but also all over Japan and the world, about 2 million tourists visit every year.
I hope someday Kamui’s sculpture is displayed♪
今年で65周年を迎える札幌雪祭りが本日から始まります。
札幌雪祭りは雪と氷の祭典で、大通公園をはじめ複数の会場で開催され、市民や自衛隊によって作られた多くの雪像が展示されます。
雪まつりは、1950年に地元の中・高校生が6つの雪像を大通公園に設置したことをきっかけに始まりました。雪合戦、雪像展、カーニバル等を合わせて開催、5万人あまりの人出で予想以上の大人気でした。以後、札幌の冬の行事として市民に定着していくことになりました。
北海道内のみならず、日本全国や海外から毎年およそ200万人もの観光客が訪れています。
いつか私の雪像が作られると良いな～♪
