With the increase in the popularity of swimming pools, a lot of swimming pool construction companies emerged on Dubai’s construction scene. Also, the scope of these construction companies is not only limited to just the construction of the swimming pools, they also deal in landscaping as well.  Swimming Pool Construction & Landscaping in Dubai are in huge demand nowadays, since Dubai is a desert area and the general weather is hot. People have started to focus on the beautification of their gardens and lawns as well as they want to have a swimming pool in their villas. The swimming pool is a great luxury to have in Dubai.

There are a few methods for building a swimming pool in our homes. There are many ways to build a swimming pool. But we shall look at the process to build a concrete swimming pool.

The process to build a concrete swimming pool:

Concrete is one of the most common materials that is used for the construction of the swimming pool. The concrete swimming pool is designed in such a way that it can bear the load of the soil outside and the huge pressure of water on the inside. Based on the rules and regulations of the department of Dubai Municipality, every swimming pool construction company takes care of the department’s regulations.

Design selection:

The design of the swimming pool is the first thing that is selected prior to building a swimming pool. The design is selected on the basis of land area, desired shape and size, depth of the pool, and filtration system.

Location selection:

The location of the swimming pool should be ideal when it comes to regular maintenance. We would recommend you to choose the flat terrain which would help in reducing the cost of excavation. The location of the swimming pool should be away from plants and trees because you don’t want the leaves to always cover the swimming pool.

Excavation:

After having the location, design and material (concrete) finalized, the next process is the excavation of earth for the swimming pool. Do the markings for the swimming pool with the help of wooden stakes. It will help in accurately locating the area for the swimming pool. Then use an excavator to dig the marked area of the swimming pool. Before using the excavator for digging the earth for the swimming pool, make sure that there are no electrical wires or water pipelines crossing through the marked area. To accurately dig the area, make sure to use digital and laser equipment to mark the area that is being excavated.

Swimming pool base construction:

The base of the swimming pool is one of the most vital parts when it comes to the construction of the swimming pool. It is necessary that the bottom of the swimming pool is uniform according to the design. Make sure that the soil is firm and compacted before the concrete is laid on the base. The compaction can be done either via natural soil or gravel. The compaction must be done with specialized rollers. Once the base of the pool is compacted, now it’s time to pour the concrete layer. The concrete layer should not be less than 5 centimetres. Keep in mind that the base of the pool should have a slope so that the water can be easily drained out.

Steel cage reinforcement:

Once the base is prepared and the excavation of walls is properly done, the next step is the steel cage reinforcement of the walls and the base. Once the whole steel cage is prepared and before spraying the concrete, the plumbing lines are laid down which include the water inlet, outlet and filtration system. Then the concrete is laid for the swimming pool. While laying the concrete we use a procedure known as shotcrete. The whole steel cage is sprayed with concrete throughout the interior. With this technique, the whole structure is created in one piece and there is no gap between the walls of the swimming pool or the base.

Filtration sand pumping systems for swimming pool:

The filtration systems and water pumping systems are efficiently installed before spraying the concrete on the floor and the walls. These are very necessary when it comes to swimming pools since we need to filter out the water every other day and maintain the water level.

Laying the concrete in the swimming pool:

Lay down the concrete on the floor and walls of the pool using the technique described above i.e., ‘shotcreting’. Shaping of the swimming pool walls and the floor is done using a special tool. Shaping the walls of the swimming pool depends on the design of the pool. As soon as the concrete is poured, it should be cured at least once for not less than 7 days. It will help the concrete is becoming very strong and long-lasting.

Waterproofing:

The most common ways of waterproofing the interior of the swimming pool is:

  • Epoxy cement

  • Waterproofing membrane

  • Glass

  • Tiles

  • Ceramic

The basic purpose of waterproofing is to make the swimming pool area water-tight.

Construction of coping:

Coping is the area that is created around the swimming pool in order to walk. It is usually made with a material which has high friction and will not let the swimmer slip when they get out of the pool. It can either be made with a natural stone, concrete or any other suitable and desirable material. Before installing the coping, wait two to three days so that the concrete is properly set up.

If everything is done well by a reputed swimming pool construction company, you will have an amazing experience as long as you keep using the swimming pool. Do not forget to go for a company which has expertise in Swimming Pool Construction & Landscaping in Dubai.
