A. Amplication primer positions correspond to >3745-3764, and <4700-4681 in Caenorhabditis elegans (Ellis et al., 1986; GenBank accession X03680).
For amplication, an initial DNA denaturation at 94°C for 3 min was followed by 30 cycles of 94°C for 30 s, 52°C for 30 s, and 72°C for 1 min, followed by a final extension for 7 min at 72°C.
D. PCR cycling conditions used for amplification were: an initial denaturation at 94°C for 5 min, followed by 35 cycles of denaturation at 94°C for 50s, annealing at 55°C for 50s and extension at 72°C for 1 min and a final step at 72°C for 7 min.
