The structure Qubbat-ul-Islam mosque is built over the ruins of the fort of Lal Kot and Qila Rai Pithora. On close inspection one can see the recycled pillars from earlier temples. Later Khalji and Lodi kings added and expanded the mosque to leave their legacy behind. In courtyard of the mosque stands the famous Iron Pillar of Delhi, originally elected in today's Udaygiri by Gupta monarch in 5th century. #travel #traveltales #history #travelstagram #travelgram #instatravel #instaindia #indiagram #indiatravel #travelIndia #travelphotography #travelphoto #incredibleindia #colorsofindia #heritage #delhi #delhitourism #saadidilli #dilli #sodelhi A photo posted by Jet Set Explore (@jetsetexplore) on Jan 24, 2017 at 6:49am PST
