Today on the 4th day of our journey to the Darjeeling Hills with @saha_snaps we take a glimpse of the road connecting Darjeeling to the plains During the British era there existed a cart road which horse driven "tongas" ferried passengers and goods to Darjeeling from the quaint little town of Siliguri, which in turn was connected to Calcutta, the national capital of the time by a broad gauge railway line With time the road was broadened, paved and bus services began from the plains and started competing with the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway from the early 1900s Today there are two roads connecting Darjeeling to the rest of the country, the iconic Hill Cart road and also the steeper Rohini road with both meeting at Kurseong Here we have a shot of the Rohini road, which is not only well maintained but also incredibly picturesque with beautiful green mountains visible under a clear blue sky #travelgoals #traveldiaries #naturelovers #traveling #naturephotography #trip #instatravel #mountains #sunshine #wanderlust #landscape #igtravel #nikon📷 #photography #travelphotography #inspiration #traveladdict #blue #sky #places #jetsetter #travelblog #stories
