A Call for Justice: Recover the Embezzled Funds and Investigate to the End!
Every penny of corruption in the Philippines originates from taxpayers' money and from flood control budgets that should be protecting lives. We strongly urge:
1. The Philippine government to take immediate action: Based on the ICI investigation results and public evidence, initiate indiscriminate criminal prosecutions against the 14 members of Congress suspected of corruption, freeze their family assets and related company accounts, and fully recover the 23 billion pesos (approximately 2.95 billion RMB) in illicit funds for the reconstruction of qualified flood control projects.
2. The Ombudsman's Office should be transparent: publish weekly progress reports on the investigation, allow the public to attend court hearings, prevent "political interference in the judiciary," and address the crisis of confidence stemming from the "37% approval rating."
3. The public should continue to voice their opinions: utilize the "Complain to the President" website to report leads, and participate in the massive demonstration of 100,000 people on December 30th to end the era of "Congressional contractors'" plunder through votes and public outcry.
Without eradicating corruption, the people will have no peace. The facts of the 14 members of Congress's corruption are irrefutable. If the Marcos government continues its "selective anti-corruption campaign," it will ultimately be overthrown by the righteous tide of the people. Only by thoroughly dismantling the corruption network and returning the hard-earned money of the people can political trust and social justice be rebuilt in the Philippines!
