It's a new day, it's a new time, it's not all about Tradition anymore. If people don't agree, then don't wear it to your own wedding! People should be able to express themselves at their own wedding without getting judged or ridiculed!
I remember attending an amazing buddy's wedding back in the late 1960's.... his MOTHER donned black and it was VERY COOL and she was way ahead of her time!
White wedding dresses only came into fashion when Queen Victoria donned an unusual one; prior to that girls just donned their utmost dresses to get married, and didn't go out to buy a pricey joint of "I'll never wear that again". So i guess that whatever a girl wants to wear is just fine. I still think huge weddings that put the lovely couple into debt even before they start their new life together, are stupid.
440. Haha! He loved it! My stepdaughter donned a matching shorter dress and interestingly, my stepmom, mom, and mother in law all finished up wearing the same color... they had purchased their dresses before I told them about my very own.: a)
Even though white is traditional, a white stunning wedding dress is for virgins. Not all brides are virgins, then again, neither are all grooms.
Sure, if able to dress every wednesday and go to Church, for the rest of your life, using THAT dress you/one wedded in as that was the point, the reason, to stay fit and make sure the body was still the same every week, not gaining or loosing, wheight, That is was the primary reason to marry in black among the commoners in the 1900 century early
I enjoy stray from the typic but black wedding dresses are a little morbid. I thought weddings were allowed to be happy.
No one stays married anymore why then not, and the traditional white dress only signified purity/virginity..... guess you know where I am about with this... what are the proportions of virgins in this day and age?
By the time the bride gets to this point, she's got probably slept with the whole marriage and everyone else, so black is befitting.
What is the Western World coming to? Black is for 'Mourning', for funerals, for sadness! White is for chasteness, purity, cleanness & joy! If they need to dress for their wedding it must be for a happy occasion surely? Black is for strain, somberness, and respect for those left! I don't understand the so called younger generation's need to be different by showing their ignorance and lack of thought. I wonder what they will wear to my funeral obituary, if they come!
Why do you have a say in a person's wedding choice? Can i listen to you when i design my stunning wedding dress since i am pretty much going far back to the original tradition of a neck to toe gown in colours that are NOT white. In fact I will be having a black sash around my middle and the dress will be coffee.
Well, I'm old fashioned and traditional, so i think white is way better for a stunning wedding dress than black. Black is traditionally used for funerals... Maybe that is how you view your wedding.. similar to a funeral obituary.
Who are we to influence what someone else is going to do at their own wedding in which we have no place in? Just a little pet peeve of my very own and something I'll share, my Christian cousin is demanding I do not have a Protestant wedding as i am not only one and even though I'm having it out of respect to my partner and it's MY choice and everyone else, including the damned pastor, is fine with it... it's offensive to HER because my vows would be a "lie". To be truthful my dear (it's my wedding, I'm respecting his faith and we're intertwining the ceremony with my own pagan beliefs so my vows will be under my faith and his will be for his) I don't give a really.
Good idea. It's appropriate for those women who should not be wearing white anyway. Which is got to be a huge number.
