It has been 10 days now since they hatched.
This was taken the day they were released outside.
This is the egg they hatched from.
I kept 11 of them to raise inside. 10 days after they hatched I noticed something in the containers that looked like a dead mantis. All 11 of them molted and are now much larger than they were the day before!
Their bodies are now longer and you can see their eyes better now.
This one is eating a fruit fly.

Praying mantis (カマキリ) babies.
My mother found the egg pouch back in March and broke the stick it was on not knowing what it was. I bought a bug habitat to put it in to protect it until ready to hatch.
2am on May 14th I went to get a drink from the kitchen and heard a scratching noise and found this.
It is hard to see because of the net but that is the egg case attached to a twig.
They are larger than I expected them to be!
I wanted to hold one but I was afraid I would hurt it and there was so many of them I did not want them to get loose in the house!
I am sure they are very hungry so after I took some pictures I opened the bug habitat up and placed it outside so they could start hunting for food.
This was another egg case but it was attached to our fence. I do not know if this one has hatched yet.
