"stir the pot"

This is a phrase from the USA that describes a person who starts rumors so he or she can keep talking about them and make themselves the center of attention.  A person who "stirs the pot" is interested in having people pay attention to the person spreading the rumor, instead of talking about real issues.

If you know someone who just wants to gossip and try to get you to gossip with them, you can tell them, "Stop trying to stir the pot.  I don't want to stir the pot."

そうすれば彼らはいつも話の中心でいられるからね、　"stirs the pot"な人は真実を話すより噂話を話すことによって人の注意を引くことができると思っているのかもしれないですね。

もしあなたの周りに噂話をしたりあなたを噂話に巻き込んで来るような人がいたら

"Sad Sack"

"Sad Sack" started out as a term in the US military for someone who can not do anything right, even though he tries very hard to do the right thing.

Today, it also means a person who is always complaining and can never see the bright side of things.

A sad sack is the type of person who is no fun to be around. They always see the dark and never the light.

I hope no one ever becomes a sad sack, and that everyone can find and enjoy at least a little bit of the beauty that surrounds us all.

In America, people who are always dissatisfied and can not see the good side of things are called "Sad Sack".

Originally this was the beginning of this expression calling the person who can not do what she can do properly no matter how hard he worked in the American army.

It is not fun to have people around Sad Sack around, no matter what you do, you will not see anything bad looking at.

I want to live a life with enjoying my day keeping an eye on the little beauty around us.

I hope no one will be Sad Sack.

Intro

Hello,  My name is Joseph Campbell.  I recently moved to Japan from the United States.  In the States, I lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  I was a trial attorney there.  

As a matter of fact, I am still an active trial attorney and sometimes return to Santa Fe.

Santa Fe has many beautiful qualities, as does Japan.  

I will share my thoughts on my new life here in Japan.  I also want to sprinkle some English lessons in my blogs.
