Hi Ameba friends. I am starting a travel company focused on Canada. Would love to hear what you think!
Some information / high level summary of the type of experience
Out Here (www.outheretravel.ca) is a roadtrip experience travel provider geared towards backpackers. They provide buses that do loops across the central and east coast of Canada, to big cities, cool small towns, amazing national parks, with adventure activities along the way. They also provide you with the flexibility to do what you like -- with multiple options each day. They organize reservations for accommodations and activities in advance to make sure that you have a spot - but you pay the providers directly. Accommodation is usually dorm style, with occasional shared rustic cabin rentals and camping during certain seasons. Let them know in advance if interested in upgraded accommodations or private rooms or doing something completely different.
Their tours in the summer run from 14 to 25+ days and they spend more than one night in each location so that you can experience it. Winter trips are shorter, and focus on specific activities (e.g,. dogsledding, skiing). Departures are bi-weekly for now, but they plan to move this to every three days in the coming years. Trips have both free and optional paid activities. Most days the bus will be driving to a cool spot to check out, all included. Bearing in mind the paucity of challenges with public transport in the province, across the country, and the difficulty of getting to the great hikes and spots, Out Here’s trips are worth considering as hybrid tour/ transport experience. For those traveling solo, it is a great way to meet fellow backpackers on the road.
