This is what happened to my Powershot S1. The best repurpose.⠀ #repost @jamescolemanorg⠀ • • •⠀ Super stoked about this camera. When my first born turned 3, I gave him my old Powershot S1, a #DSLR perfectly sized for 3-year old hands, with a built-in L lens (complete with red ring). He practiced what I taught him on several trips to #sanfrancisco (Check out the picture I took of him shooting the T-Rex at the academy of science in SF), looking through the viewfinder, adjusting the zoom, and taking photos. Eventually that camera broke, and Canon wouldn’t fix it (shame on you Canon... I lost a little love for you that day. One more reason I’m starting to love LUMIX). I strategically bought one more of the same S1 second hand, and that broke about a year ago. This time, I researched the heck out of the Powershot family, looking for the perfect gateway camera to a pro DSLR or mirrorless. I found what I think is the best for my son, a DSLR form factor capable of 16MP images, and with a 50X optical zoom complemented by internal image stabilization and intelligent zoom framing. It has a mode dial just like my #5DMarkIV, and even has a manual mode, so now he can start learning about aperture and shutter and ISO. It also does full HD 1080p video, and even has built-in WiFi! I got a few key accessories to complete the kit- a filter adapter so we could protect the lens with a clear Canon lens filter. A lens cap from my 100mm L lens, a canon carrying case, and a 64GB Sandisk SD card. The #SX530HS seems to be the perfect camera for him to keep exploring his curiosity and growing a skill set. A pretty cool 7th birthday gift. There are a couple requirements; he has to complete a couple photography and videography classes with me on @creativelive, watch a few kick-ass @petermckinnon vids on #YouTube and go exploring Kobe with me as my vlogging assistant - and that includes hiking all over #Kobe, including Rokko and Maya! I’m a super proud dad and excited to keep my son’s momentum racing. @petermckinnon what do you think man? #カメラ #camera #photography #parenting #fatherandson #education #montessori #神戸 #神戸市 #六甲 #canon #powershot #videography #sanfrancisco #japan #日本 #親バカ #溺愛パパ
