While the majority of the members of the team that won the Super Bowl were present, a few key members were missing.
Veteran receiver Anquan Boldin, who was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in March, was unable to attend due to obligations in San Francisco.
"Unfortunately I'm going to miss a great opportunity to be with my Super Bowl team at the White House," Boldin tweeted on Monday.
Cornerback Cary Williams, who signed a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on March 14, missed the even to train with his team,
The decision by Williams to miss out on the event was probably in his best interest. That is, if he even had the choice to go or not.
Another veteran that wasn't present but could have been there was Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard. He was released by the Ravens in March, and since his departure, has held a grudge against many of his former teammates and coaches.
In May, Pollard announced his decision to not attend the White House event,He is rumored to be holding a grudge mainly against head coach John Harbaugh.
Another former Raven who easily could have attended the event, center Matt Birk, decided to decline despite being retired and not having an obligation with another team.
Birk skipped the event because he did not want to meet President Barack Obama due to Obama's stance on abortion,Birk disagreed with Obama's previous praise of Planned Parenthood.
If Pollard wants to miss the event because he holds a grudge against his former organization, it's not far fetched for Birk to decline his invitation due to political opinions.
Birk isn't the first athlete to miss a White House championship celebration because of political views. Last year, former Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas
Overall, many players were in attendance, including Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, two key members of the Super Bowl run who are no longer with the team.
The Ravens had a short ceremony proceeded by an opportunity for each player to personally meet the President.
