１７．DON'T CRY FOR ME, ARGENTINA 泣かないで、アルゼンティーナ
1977年にリリーズされたアルバム、「パッセージ」の中に収められた１曲で、ご存知のように有名なミュージカル「エビータ」から取られたカヴァー曲。
ミュージカル「エビータ」は、アルゼンチンの大統領ファン・ペロンの妻エバ・ペロン（愛称エビータ）の一生を描いた作品で、ティム・ライスが作詞、アンドリュー・ロイド＝ウェーバーが作曲。
1996年にはマドンナの主演で映画化され、アカデミー賞５部門でノミネートされた。
カレンの歌唱は実写の記録映画を背景に独特の語りかけるような口調で聞き手の心に染み入るように歌っている。こういう本格的なミュージカル作品も見事に歌い上げるカレンの歌唱力に脱帽♪

原題は「惑星間宇宙船の乗員に告ぐ」というような意味で、なんとも気宇壮大な曲（笑）
もともとは、1976年、カナダのバンド"KLAATU"のオリジナル・ソングで、翌年の1977年に、アルバム「パッセージ」の中でカーペンターズがカヴァー。
