Hi everyone, I finally decided to write about my nose piercing experience! Before I start explaining the whole thing, I just want to say that it took me about two years of begging and pleading with my grandmother to even let me get it done. She didn't like the idea at first, but she eventually gave in. ;) I've had to have it re-pierced two other times, obviously not counting the first time, due to complications that I accidentally caused myself. Like they say, third time is a charm! The third time I got my nose pierced is the one that seemed to work the best. I still have it in, and it hasn't given me any trouble. Anyway, I'm just going to explain how the piercer pierced me for a now. I might go into the details of the complications in a different post later on if you guys are interested.

So yeah, last year on September 9th, my grandparents finally took me to get my nose pierced! We went to a tattoo shop called Sacred Keystone Tattoo, which is also where they do body piercings. As we were driving there, I was pretty nervous. I was expecting a nose piercing to hurt a lot so I was all freaked out. When we got there, there was no one there besides the piercer, who also happens to be a nurse at our local hospital, her husband who does the tattoos (they both own the place so I guess it's like a family business) and their two young children. Since there was no one else there, she was ready for me right away which made me even more nervous because I thought I would have time to at least prepare myself as we would wait for my turn or something, but obviously that didn't happen.

She took me back into a little room where she does all of her piercing procedures. As I sat there in my wheelchair watching her get stuff ready, I started asking her questions about the pain. I have my ears pierced, so I asked her if the pain for a nose piercing was going to be worse than that, she told me no but I really didn't believe her. In my mind I was sitting there thinking "oh my god it's going to hurt so bad!" but I said "OK" anyway.

Once she got everything set up and ready, I picked out the nose jewelry I wanted in. It was just a clear crystal, there was other colors there but I thought clear would just match best with everything. Once I picked it out, she started to explain how she was going to do it. Basically what she did first was mark my nostril with a pen, then she took a receiving tube and placed it on the inside of my nose against my nostril. The receiving tube is mainly there to catch the hollow needle when it's pushed through your nose so it doesn't poke anything else, like your septum or something, and it also helps guide the hollow needle in straight so your hole doesn't turn out crooked.

After she placed the receiving tube against my nostril, she lined up the hollow needle and told me to take a deep breath in and hold it. When she told me to breathe out, she pushed the hollow needle half way into my nose real quick and removed the receiving tube. As the hollow needle hung from my nose, my nostril began to burn a little bit, but it was nothing horrible.

She put the jewelry inside the top hole of the hollow needle and pushed it all the way through so the nose ring would go in and the hollow needle would come out. The last thing she did was tell me how to clean it and take care of it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it didn't hurt as bad as I thought, the only thing I really experienced was watering of my left eye and a little bit of bleeding from the piercing and all that is very common for a nose piercing. The nerves in your face are all connected in some way when it comes to your nose and eyes which makes your eyes water when getting your nose pierced, and obviously if you're going to stick a needle through any part of your face or body, you're going to bleed.
