BE IT on a football pitch or a blank canvas, Brisbane Roar recruit Issey Nakajima-Farran loves to illustrate his flair.
Roar fans will get their first proper look at the Canada international when he makes his A-League debut tomorrow night in Brisbane's grand final rematch against Central Coast Mariners at Suncorp Stadium.
"For a player like me who likes to stay wide, test the fullback in every sort of way, be it one-on-ones or diagonal runs, this is the club to be at," the flashy winger said.
But so Nakajima-Farran doesn't get too absorbed in thinking about his A-League initiation, there is every chance he might pick up a brush and dabble in his other great love - art.
The 27-year-old former AC Horsens attacker developed a love for painting during his five-year spell in Denmark, where the cold weather made it hard for him to spend his spare time outdoors.
"Living in Denmark, it's a very interior-conscious culture. Everybody shows you around their apartment -that really got me into painting," he said.
"It started out pretty much painting from my own living room. When people came over, they really liked my style of paintings - big faces, really powerful pictures.
"Everything's really been kicking off with my art. I've been selling them for $2000 ($A2780) a piece and it helps take my mind off football."
Among his subjects, which can be seen at www.isseyfarran.com

However, Nakajima-Farran admits he and his Spanish girlfriend Carolina Fernandez might be inclined to spend less time indoors at their South Bank pad now that they are living in a much more appealing climate.
