Crews from Louisville Water Co. have isolated a water main break late Monday. They are also repairing the 48-inch line that ruptured. To prevent the water from leaking, the crew turned off the gate valve this morning and water pressure is improving. Areas affected are downtown, the Highlands, Audubon Park and Old Louisville. Several businesses have been affected by the break, too. The break caused water to spew through the streets near the University of Louisvilleon Monday evening. So the university had to cancel classes and close offices on its Belknap Campus Tuesday. And Humana Inc. also closed its downtown Louisville offices Tuesday as a result of the impact of the water-main break. About 25,000 of Louisville Water Co.’s 283,000 customers were affected by this water main break, making it one of the largest breaks in the company’s history, according to a news release.
