2009 NFL Week 1 Upset Predictions Early Betting Odds
The Redskins made big upgrades to their defense in the off season with the additions of DeAngelo Hall, Brian Orakpo (draft), and Albert Haynesworth. The Redskins offense is still not what Washington fans want, as most analysts question whether Jason Campbell is starting quarterback material or not. The Giants are bringing in Hakeem Nicks, but are without veterans Amani Toomer and Plaxico Burress. Expect a shutdown performance from the Redskins defense and a frustrated Eli Manning. Redskins win 17 14.
The Chicago Bears are not the 9 7 team from 2008. The Chicago Bears have a couple of rookie receivers who may be able to contribute big in '09 (Iglesias Knox), and have a Pro Bowl quarterback in Jay Cutler. Even in Green Bay, I love the Bears to beat Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. Ryan Grant is not the running back he was in 2007, and Donald Driver is still pulling hissy fits and demanding a raise. Matt Forte is the real deal and should be able to run and receive big over the Packer defense that will be concentrated on stopping Cutler. Special teams, defense, offense, and coaching, I'll take the Bears over the Packers for the 2009 season. Bears win 28 17.
Kansas City Chiefs (+8.5) vs. Baltimore Ravens
My largest upset pick in a large time, I honestly like the Chiefs over the heavily favored Ravens. The Chiefs have made some great moves in the off season including picking up Cassel, Mike Vrabel, and Zach Thomas. This would still be an amazing upset so I am not as confident on the Chiefs winning the game, but I think the spread cheap nhl jerseys is way too large and the Chiefs do have a chance to pull of the victory. Chiefs win 21 20.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) vs. This game will be played in Tampa Bay, and if you know anything about Raymond James Stadium, it is an incredibly tough place to play. WR Antonio Bryant is a stud and combination of Derrick Ward and Earnest Graham at running back may be the most dangerous duo outside of LT and Sproles in San Diego. Kellen WInslow and Byron Leftwich are new additions that make the Bucs a better team, and I question Dallas' defense. Expect a great game, and a Tampa Bay victory. Tampa Bay wins 27 24.
