The Dell Inspiron 9200 offers performance close to that of the top of the line Inspiron XPS but at a much lower price and not as much bulk.
Dell, like many companies, has started to go after the mobile gamer with new product offerings that carry a premium price. What many of the consumers buying systems like the Inspiron XPS don't realize is that Dell also offers the Inspiron 9200 that has almost the same level of performance but at a lower cost and smaller dimensions.
Rather than using a desktop processor for the Inspiron 9200, Dell chose to put in a Pentium M 725 (1.8GHz) processor. While it doesn't provide as high of a performance as the desktop CPUs, it provides much better battery such as dell Latitude E6400 battery , Dell Latitude E6500 Battery , Dell Precision M2400 Battery , Dell Precision M6500 Battery , Dell R822G Battery , Dell PP30L Battery , Dell Vostro 3400 Battery , Dell Vostro 3500 Battery , Dell Vostro 3700 Battery , Dell 312-0998 Battery , Dell Latitude D630 Battery , Dell Precision M2300 Battery life. Matched up to the processor is 512MB of PC2700 DDR memory.
Storage on the Inspiron 9200 is very strong. The 60GB hard drive spins at a very fast 7,200rpm rate giving it very good throughput. Also with the system is a 8x DVD burner to create DVDs in very little time.
Graphics are quite good thanks to the 17" wide screen LCD display. Powering the display is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics processor with 128MB of memory. This should allow the 9200 to play all the current DirectX 9 games at fairly high frame rates.
The one drawback to the Inspiron 9200 is its fairly high price tag. While not as expensive as the Inspiron XPS, it is still higher than many of its competitors. The advantage to the Inspiron 9200 though is its relatively smaller dimensions compared to the XPS model.
