Wow when trouble rains it pours for Toyota. The liberal media, auto analysts who have never worked in the development side of the business and now the government continue to pile on the number one car maker in the world. Everyone loves to kick the leader when they are down. Are Toyota's troubles permanent ? Will their loyal fan base defect ? Is the genchi gembutsu way of problem solving appropriate for problem solving in a company Toyotas size when the public demands instantaneous solutions to problems ?
It takes time to properly fix these issues which seem to be in the class of we validated the part but we theoretically validated the system. Sure the Toyota system needs to grow to match the scale of it's operations but one thing is sure, Toyota will learn from these events and going forward they will become an even stronger customer magnet.
