A damned difficult business, if that book is. One of the most interesting aspects of Asterios Polyp to me is its use of art techniques to tell a story. It is a very high-concept graphic novel, and raises questions as to what art is, along with questions of what it is to be human. Frankly I think I just feel out of my depth. It's not a rhetorical question; it's the central thesis of David Mazzucchelli's graphic novel Asterios Polyp. It's a shame that such an artistically accomplished work doesn't have a story of the same high quality. If writing about music is like dancing about architecture, what is writing about a comic about an architect? Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli. Meet Asterios Polyp: middle-aged, meagerly successful architect and teacher, aesthete and womanizer, whose life is wholly upended when his New York City apartment goes up in flames. I was really impressed by the unique style the author used throughout the book. 'Sense of place' in Comic Book Form – Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli. One of the more beautiful graphic novels I've read is Asterios Polyp by David Mazzucchelli (2009). I don't read as many Western comics as I probably should, though this mostly my own fault. An extraordinarily easy book to read, Asterios Polyp is, I'm finding, a nearly equally extraordinarily difficult book to talk about. The book is interesting both visually and story-wise. Asterios Polyp ist ein erfolgreicher Architekt. Asterios Polyp is beautiful, with all kinds of formalist and craft tricks to push the medium of comics.
