Jun Saito is considered as one of most versatile drummers plays many different styles of music such as Swing Jazz, Be-Bop, Jazz-Rock, Fusion, Funk, Latin and Brazilian music.
He was born in Tokyo Japan and began playing piano at the age of 3 and started playing drums at the age of 12.
He became professional at the age of 17 and moved to Boston, MA at the age of 21.
He studied music at Berklee College of Music from 1974 to 1978.
He was chosen to be the first winner of Buddy Rich Scholarship in 1977.
1977 to 1985, he worked and performed with various musicians in US such as Gary Burton, Victor Bailey, Jamie Baum, George Benson,Chick Corea, Kevin Eubanks, Mick Goodric, Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, Tiger Okoshi,Makoto Ozone, Dave Kikawski, Mike Stern, Steve Swallow and many more.
He also taught private drum lesson at Berklee College of Music.
He moved back to Japan in 1985 and worked in Japan with various musicians such as Terumasa Hino, Toninho Holta, Brian Lynch, Paul Jackson,
Ray Parker Jr. Hubert Laws, Kazumi Watanabe and many more.
He recorded more than 20 CDs and performed on TV and radio programs.
He taught at PAN School of Music, Friends Music and Shobi University.
He moved to New York in 2003 and started working with various musicians such as
Tim Armacost, Charles Fanbrough, Shunzo Ono, Jun Miyake and Michael Wolff.
He is working regularly with legendary musician Larry Coryell since 2009.
