大きな地図で見る
シカゴに着いてから約２時間…カラマズー行きまで約２時間…さすがに映画３本見てほとんど寝なかったせいかものすごく目が痛い。シカゴに着いた時は窓から見えた広大な平たい土地にワクワク感がとまらずニヤニヤした。
Two hours has passed since I arrived in Chicago・・・I have to wait two hours for the connecting flight to Kalamazoo・・・I was watching three movies in the airport and I didn't sleep a lot so my eyes hurt crazily.
When I arrived in Chicago, I saw vast and flat land from the airplane's window. I was very excited about that.
シカゴは雲１つない快晴で19℃と聞いていて少し寒いかと思ったが過ごしやすい感じがする。
There is no cloud in Chicago and it is 19℃ (=66.2F)
I thought it was a little bit cold, but I think it's comfortable.
入国管理局でさっそく英語を聞き返される。どうもスパっと伝わらない。とにかく伝えるためにゆっくりしゃべった。この際伝われば問題ない。
I talked to an immigration officer, but he asked me again. My English was not good. Anyway, I spoke slowly so that he can understand my awful English. There is no problem if he understands my English..
How are you?と審査官に聞かれてフツーにbadと答えるひねくれ者の俺。疲れているのに前のやつの手続きに手間取っていたからそう答えたのかもしれない。聞き返してみると彼はfineだと言う。少し申し訳ないことをした気持ちになった。
The immigration officer asked me "How are you??! and I said "bad". I have a twist in my nature.
I was very tierd because of long flight and he took time to finish the guy in front of me. So I said "bad".
I also said " How are you??" to him. He said fine. I regretted what I said to the immigration officer.
通り抜けたあと、空港スタッフに俺の飛行機はどこだと聞いても、電光掲示板を見ての一言、負けじと、のってないから聞いていると言ってみる。
I got entry permit and I asked an airport stafff about my connecting flight. However, she only said, "Look at the electric bulletin board".
I said there is no information about my plane so I'm asking.
ユナイテッド航空のカウンターは移動したらしくそこにいるスタッフに聞くと、ここはユナイテッドじゃないとの一言。案内くらいしろ！と思った。でも中には親切な方もいてなんとか今、次の飛行機を待っている。
Unted Airlines' desk moved to somewhere so I asked the staff. She only said "This is not United Airlines' desk".
I thought they should show me where it is. The survice is really bad.
Anyway, there were some kind persons and I coud get the rigth place somehow and I'm waiting for the next flight now.
国際線から国内線へはモノレールみたいなので移動した。アジア人すら全然いなく、ホントにアメリカに来たんだなーと実感する。
I used a monorail to move form the international line to the domestic line. There was no Asian and I realized I really came to USA.
国内線への検査で靴を脱いで金属探知機を通らされた。小さな未開封のANAからもらったペットボドルすら持ち込めないと捨てられる。バッグを開け「たけのこの里」を見て、首をかしげられたときは少し笑った。
For the domestic flight's check, I had to take off my shoes and I went through a metal detector.
I got a small unopend water bottle in All Nippon Airlines, but they said I cannot bring it into the airplane.
One guy opend my bag and he saw my "Takenoko no Sato (Bamboo shoot's vilage)" which is just a Japanese funny Chocolate snack . He inclined his head. I laught a litte bit.
サンドイッチは$8で高いのか良くわからない。
機内食でデザートに出たハーゲンダッツはうまかったなぁ…
The sandwich in the airport was $8. I don't know it is expensive or not.
Häagen-Dazs ice cream of in-flight meal was delicious・・・
下の写真はカラマズーへの乗り継ぎ便。小さくて離着時の衝撃がある。少し怖い。
飛行機までは、スタスタ歩いて乗る。
The picture below is my connecting flight to Kalamazoo. The airplane is small and it shakes when it takes off. I'm scared a little bit.
