do you know chinese vampires? in English we call them Jiang Shi. you know, the vampires that just kinda jump around, with their hands outstretched infront of them?? they're really freaky. 叫び but I really like them. ラブラブ

but do you know HOW these vampires evolved?? ねこへび do you know where they come from?

I read that if a family didn't have enough money お金 to transport someone back to their home town 馬, they would ask a Tao priest ニコニコ to teach the deceased to hop on their own feetオバケ back to their hometown for a burialドクロ. It was particularly popular in Xiangxi, due to many people leaving their hometown to work in the city.霧 When they passed away, they were transportated sometimes very long distances using two bamboo rods, attatched to their arms only, so the dead appeared to be standing upright男の子, with their arms stretched infront of them. When the bamboo rods bounced up 上下矢印 and down 上下矢印, the corpses looked like they were jumping. hence the chinese vampire. OK

I grew up with Latvian, or maybe simpy European beliefs:

12 midnight was the witching hour. 12

If a knife fell on the floor, it pointed the direction that danger would come from. ナイフとフォーク If a fork fell to the floor, the tongs pointed the direction a friend would come from.

Kill a spider, three years bad luck. 砂時計 Break a mirror, ten years bad luck. NG

To ward off bad luck, you throw salt over your left shoulders three times and then turn clockwise three times. 手裏剣

Always envision yourself surrounded in white lightひらめき電球 before you sleepぐぅぐぅ, or some bad spirit may take over your body. オバケ

and.

always.

yourself.

from.

vampires.

I remember I even wouldn't let my first boyfriend kiss my neckキスマーク because I was afraid he would suddenly turn vampire. 目

how about you? did you grow up with believing in witches and vampires? I still believein them, and even ghosts. maybe if you're lucky, next week I'll tell you a few ghost stories. オバケ

It's almost...

Halloween!!!!!

ドクロ BOO!

I had a scary, and true, experience last week.

It was 1:30. In the morning. I had taken a long walk with my hairy roommate しっぽフリフリ and was tired and stressed from work.

and.

so.

I was sleeping. 満月 with my hairy roommates. ブタネコラブラブわんわんドキドキ

soundly, I might add. probably was snoring. ぐぅぐぅ

and I woke up to the sound of one of my hairy roommates growling. しっぽフリフリ I elbowed her, and told her to shut up (I was sleepy and not in a kind mood. sorry mom.)

and. I looked up. alongside my bed is my bedroom window. 星空 The moonlight is really strong, and I like the moonlight on my bed as I sleep. 星 At least I used to.お月様

but.

I looked up to find a MAN.

Not one with big muscles柔道, a kind and passionate heartラブラブ, an amazing mindひらめき電球, and a steady incomeお金.

Just some guy, jiggling with my window, trying to get in!! ナゾの人

Most women would scream, I thinkドンッ. Now, looking back, I should have screamed. Or at the very least, gotten something レンチ to hit the guy over the head with as soon as he came in my house.Or called the police. 携帯

But. I'm not an ordinary woman, apparently. おとめ座

Can you guess what I did? I bet not.

I...

BROKE MY WINDOW!!!!!

with the PALM OF MY HAND! パンチ!

It was just like at karate. 柔道 And when I poked my head out of my window to watch the guy run away走る人, at first I was a little embarassed, appalled that I had broken my window. ショック!

But about a minute later, I thought, come on! 目 It's cool! ニコニコ I scared away a bad man. あし And I bet he won't come back! パンチ!

And if he does, I have a hairy roommate にゃー who'd attack his eyes while the other hairy roommate わんわん attacks his butt.

By the way, do you know the reason we have pumpkins carved up with wicked faces and placed infront of our houses on Halloween?ハロウィン

Halloween is the Day of the Dead. オバケ The dead are allowed to walk around on All Hallows Eve, now called Halloween.

To scare off wicked, evil, or just mischievous spirits, we put jack o'lanterns on our doorsteps. 叫び When I was a kid, my father (who is American) told me we dress up in costumes so that noone will know who is a real ghost and who isn't. ドクロ

Therefore the real ghosts ねこへび would feel comfortable walking in our world for at least one day. 1

And our loved ones would feel relaxed enough to come home among all the festivies and say hello.

オバケ hello!

おとめ座 hi, grandma! ラブラブ long time no see!!

オバケ  how come you're still not married? 恋の矢??

おとめ座 introduce a man worthy, and I'll get married, grandma! ドキドキ

オバケ I would, but all the men I know are dead. むかっ
