沈丁花 風は冷たき 街ゆけば 赤き蕾は 時を待ちたり

昨日都内薄曇りにして寒し
寒中を漸く過ぎたれど風はいまだ冷たし
歩道を歩く人々の足取りも何処か重たし
路の傍に沈丁花の赤き蕾は花咲く時を待ちたり
It was cloudy and cold in Tokyo yesterday.
"Kanchu" (The coldest part of the year) is over, but the wind is still cold.
The steps of people walking on the sidewalk also seem somewhat heavy.
The red buds of Winter Daphne beside the road are waiting to bloom.
